Tongue and mouth surgery

You should have any changes to the oral mucosa examined.

If changes occur in the oral mucosa that persist over a longer period of time, it is often advisable to carry out a histological examination to ensure that a malignant change is not overlooked. Depending on the extent of the change, it may be necessary to perform the procedure under local or general anesthesia. The tissue is then examined histologically. Depending on the result, further therapy is then initiated.
