The ear and its diseases
The ear is the sensory organ for hearing and the sense of balance. The ear can be divided into three parts: the outer ear extends from the pinna to the end of the ear canal. The middle ear comprises the eardrum, the ossicular chain and part of the Eustachian tube. The inner ear consists of the cochlea and the organ of balance. Diseases of the inner ear (hearing loss, dizziness, ringing in the ears) are usually treated with medication or hearing aids. Middle ear diseases (e.g. “hole in the eardrum”) can often be treated well by microsurgery.

Skin and skin cancer
The skin protects us against cold, light, heat and infections. As the largest organ of the human body, it consists of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis, as well as different cell types. Over the last 20 years, there has been a steady increase in the incidence of skin cancer. If skin cancer is detected early, the chances of recovery are very good.
